Statistics from http://www.add-adhd-help-center.com/Depression/statistics.htm, National Institute of Mental Health)

Depression Statistics

1.  In any given year, about seven percent (7%), or  about 19,600,000 people  will experience a depressive disorder.

Divide the part by the % to get the whole.

Assume a US population or 280 million for the following statistics:

7. Approximately 7 million women in the United States are clinically depressed. What percent of the population does that represent?

You need to know how to calculate different percentage item. However, if you just want to practice with a calculator, go to http://www.math.com/students/calculators/source/3percent.htm.

When you finish, go back and work without a calculator!
